Production Superintendant
JOB SUMMARY
Under the supervision of the Plant Manager, the Production Superintendant supervises and plans production activities, organizes them and ensures a rigorous follow-up so that production schedules and profitability are met, as well as the quality of the final product.
In addition, he/she rigorously monitors the application of health and safety regulations in the workplace. The Production Superintendant also ensures continuous improvement in performance and sees to the achievement of the objectives established in connection with production. He/she has a participative management style and sees to the development of his/her team members. He participates in the preparation of budgets and operating objectives. He is also a member of the plant’s management committee.
SUMMARY LIST OF DUTIES
- Be a leader in health and safety;
- Implement and enforce best practices to eliminate hazardous situations in the workplace including maintaining order and cleanliness of work areas;
- Ensure that work is performed in accordance with health and safety regulations and quality objectives;
- Actively collaborate with the OHS Coordinator;
- Develop the necessary operational procedures;
- Actively participate in the continuous improvement of operations;
- Complete various production reports, analyze the data collected to optimize the efficiency of operations and control manufacturing costs;
- Analyze the production schedule with the managers in order to plan the tasks and needs so that the different lines start on time;
- Manage the supply of operating materials (resin, wax, packaging, etc.) and inventory levels;
- Optimize the use of raw material equipment and labor related to production;
- Suggest improvements to be made for better efficiency;
- Develop improvement projects involving 5S, Kaizen, productivity, health and safety, etc;
- Collaborate regularly and effectively with other departments to ensure priorities are met;
- Implement performance indicators;
- Act as a coach to his/her team and as a facilitator in the execution of mandates;
- Develops and prepares the budget for his/her sector and monitors costs and creates upgrade plans when required;
- Actively participate in the recruitment and selection process of employees in his department;
- Establish harmonious working conditions that promote an adequate climate;
- Mobilize the team to achieve their objectives and assess their performance.
- Plan the development of the skills of the members of his team and the management of the succession;
- Maintain positive relations with all employees (especially those under his/her responsibility) in order to avoid and/or resolve conflicts and encourage good communication;
- Evaluate the need for manpower with production supervisors and human resources;
- Be an integral member of the plant management team;
- Perform all other related duties.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
(Knowledge, skills, training, experience, etc.)
- Bachelor’s degree in production management or engineering;
- Minimum of 5 to 10 years experience in a wood processing industry or experience in a similar position;
- Experience in personnel management;
- Problem solving and decision making skills;
